How to Organize Under the Kitchen Sink in 5 Steps
The cabinet under your sink is probably the worst-organized spot in your kitchen — an awkward cave with a pipe in the middle. Here’s how to double its capacity in fifteen minutes.
Step 1: Empty everything
Pull it all out. Bin anything expired, crusty, or duplicated. Most people find three half-empty bottles of the same cleaner.
Step 2: Add a second level
The single biggest upgrade is an expandable under-sink shelf that builds around the plumbing. You instantly get two floors instead of one pile.
Step 3: Zone it
- Daily zone (front): dish soap, sponges, trash bags
- Weekly zone (middle): sprays, cleaners
- Rare zone (back): drain cleaner, spare supplies
Step 4: Use the door
An over-door hook strip holds gloves and brushes — space that was doing nothing.
Step 5: Protect the base
A cheap waterproof mat catches leaks before they ruin the cabinet floor — and tells you about a slow leak early.
